Hello everyone
just bought my first macro lens canon 100mm f2.8 for my 450d so now i need to start to learn how to use it, just go out and snap away i hear you say but i would like to find out a little bit more before the summer is here , can anyone recommend a good macro photo book with technical info on how the pictures were taken etc especially of insects etc. cheers Shaun

amazon has this one which is a good read, very informative. He did an earlier book on just insects but this one is much better imho

Great choice, the 450D and 100mm f/2.8 is what I'm learning to use as well! I can't really help too much on the technical side of things, but just keep going, and shoot everything and anything you can find!

thanks for replies may place an order for book will have a look around but great price about the same as a couple of digital slr mags, had a quick look at the first online read which states that various close up filters of varying strength were in use would you use these on the end of a macro lens to give additional magnification or only on a standard lens?
