First post here, looks a very informative site. Oh yeah, Hi everyone.

Been looking and looking.....and looking for first DSLR. Looking at entry level, looked at new, looked at 2nd hand.

Came across this which I think is a decent deal, better than some second hand I've seen. Works out at £420 with the 10% and £30 cashback.

Waddya reckon? Was actually going to go for EOS 100D as that's the kind of money I could justify spending. Anything else I can find 2nd hand later.

The 450D would be a good starter camera. The 1000D, only buy if money is really really an issue. A 450D is already quite basic, but the 1000D actually takes even more features away, such as the high sensitivity (f/2.8 and below) centre focus point, spot metering, infrared remote compatibility, 2 focus points, 2 mega pixels, etc. It's basically a 450D body, with half an inch lopped off the screen and the aforementioned features ripped out. The thing is though, at this point the price difference won't really justify losing those features.

If you can afford the 450D (esp with discount and cashback on offer), I'd def go for it, a very nice camera and I wouldn't have thought you would out grow it for quite a while.
