looking at the 2nd one i wanted a bit of noise to try add abit of age to the pic but it looks crap lol orwell

Any reason why you went mono Lee?

The noise just looks like you had the ISO too high rather than you applying some PP.

Over all it looks a nice location and the composition isn't too bad.
It may be natural, but #2 could do with a slight rotation and I'd be tempted to clone out the telegraph pole on the horizon. The sky looks a little blown too, an ND grad may have helped here.

I love the second shot although I agree with Neil's comments that the horizon would benefit from being straightened up and now that he mentions the telegraph pole it wouldn't be a miss.

This sort of scene just begs for the gratuitous shallow depth of focus effect which you've pulled off. I like the grainy mono finish too.
