First shots with my 5D3

I decided to take out my new 5D3 and give it a try. Here are a few I took with my Tamron 70-200 VC. As I alway shoot in RAW, I have processed these, but in reality I didn't need to do much. All I have done is: crop, adjust levels and increase the sharpness slightly

I am stunned at how much sharper this lens is on this body as opposed to my 60D and also the lack of noise. The Swan was at ISO1250 and hasn't had any NR applied

Hey Chris. The Cygnet is a beauty but the two Squirel shots don't look particularly special. Are they heavy crops?

Given the size of the crop I was quite pleased with the outcome. I also liked the expression in No 1

Chris,

Any chance of a comparison of RAWs between the 60d and the 5d, same subject using the 70-200???

I'm curious to see the difference...

@Phil Young. As promised heres a comparison. It wasn't the most scientific test I'm afraid, all shots were handheld @ 70mm 1/60 f/2.8 ISO1600 and @ 200mm 1/160 f/2.8 ISO3200. So not the best light. Ideally would have used tripod (in the wifes car

) In summary there is a noticable difference between the 2 bodies (glad I upgraded)

Thanks for taking the time to do that Chris. Honestly though - not a lot of difference in sharpness and surprisingly - can't really tell the difference in ISO between the two bodies...I'm sure it's different at 12800 though.

Strange because when I zoomed in to 1:1 on LR there was a noticeable difference. The full frame was a lot sharper and cleaner

I zoomed into a respectable viewing size - 50% for 60D, 65% for 5D and couldn't really tell them apart.

I'm planning on taking it out and trying it with my Sigma 150-500 this afternoon, so I'll see how that goes

On a seperate note now, I am mightily impressed by the 2 Tamron Lenses I now have in my bag
