A couple of pics from my first speedway at Plymouth of the year. Was an overcast night which eventually turned to rain.

No 3 would be my choice. Nice that you got a bit of blur in the spokes on that one. This time of year is a nightmare isn't it - roll on the warm weather and light evenings!
 
A bit more info on each pic

1. was taken on my D70 with Sigma 50-150

2. & 3. were taken on my D70 with Nikon 55-200 VR.

All at 1/160, going to play with a slower speed now I got the VR lenses.
 
I honestly don't find the IS on my 70-200mm to be of much use for speedway stuff, in fact it's usually turned off! I've been playing at panning at slow speeds during the last few heats of our meetings though - the key is to work out how you can get away with shooting without the flash as regardless of shutter speed the flash kills it every time by freezing the action. have a look at my last thread of speedway stuff for some shots of Tobi Kroner & Jarek Hampel to see what I mean - HERE :)

Out of interest where is the speedway in Plymouth held as I remember when it used to be held at Pennycross just past the old Farleys Factory at Outland road (love the smell of Farleys rusks on the way to work) good shots as well
