First time shooting in RAW....... HELP

Hey Guys,
Today I chose the image quality L + RAW, meaning that I would get both RAW and JPEG files?
How do I open the RAW files, instead of the JPEG.
Also what programme do you use to edit the RAW images

If you use DPP which came with your Canon camera, Gary.. that will open your RAW files. I think it supports your camera.,.. if not then there will be an update on the Canon site.
 
There will most likely have been a CD included in the camera box with the software required to open (and probably edit) the RAW files. Perhaps another Canon user could confirm this?

I've recently started shooting in RAW, and am finding it much better - you've much more control over the RAW image than you do over the compressed JPEG. Sony have their own image management software and RAW converter that I've been using. I think it's very good.
