Hi Everyone,

I am taking somephotographs at a festival in London this weekend that consists of workshops, talks, sports and live music performances. I have just purchased a Manfrotto tripod and a cable remote for my Canon 450d.

I am new to photography and have never shot using a tripod or remote before. I intend to take all photos, indoors and outside in black and white and just wondered if anyone has any kind of advice at all shooting using this method???? I will be taking general shots of people at the festival participating in the various activities and intend to do a few portraits as well.

I appreciate my post is quite generic however, I really would appreciate any kind of advice/tips on possible settings/methods using this kind of equipment.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Danny

Sounds like the kind of event where you really dont want to use a tripod and remote release to me. Surely it will just slow you down and get in the way?

Why will you be using the cable release? Unless you plan on long (bulb) exposures or plan being in some if the pictures the tripod is more than enough if the light is ok. I would suggest ditching the cable release as it's one more thing to worry about and waste time with. I'd also possibly consider ditching the tripod as well.

Hi Danny,

As above really, if that is unless you ment you have a timer shutter release and are planning on doing some time lapse work?

If so, I would always switch to manual focus before starting tour time lapse.

Just for interest :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9OvpChfhUM&hd=1

Cant take the credit though.

If not, I would prob ditch the shutter cable as if you find you need it then you can just set your cams 10sec timer.
