Fisheye confusion..can anyone help

I recently bought a canon powershot S3is Bridge camera to get back into photography which i'm hoping to buy a fisheye lens for.

First of all will a fisheye lens fit this camera or would I need a converter ring. Secondly I am having trouble understanding the differences between say a 0.2 and a 0.4x. Is this just the width of view that the lens provides? There seems to be quite a considerable price difference between them for some reason.
thanks

if the S3 has a mounting thread you may be able to get something to screw in there to do the job
fisheye is a generic term
what focal length are you wanting to use

"The focal lengths of fisheye lenses depend on the film format. For the popular 35 mm film format, typical focal lengths of fisheye lenses are between 8 mm and 10 mm for circular images, and 15-16 mm for full-frame images."..Wiki..

personally i thing you could get heavy vignetting adding bits and bobs onto a set focal lens to open it up and then use small apertures

imho the best bet is a body situation...then click on the lens
from what i have learnt you can get reasonably priced digital bodies onto which you can affix manual...and quite cheap lenses
a thread i started about this on nikon covers some of the tech stuff...

i do like the S3 but never thought it was an add on piece of kit

best of luck
