Fixation service?

I think perhaps you need to define what you mean by "service". Lenses don't need regular services like cars. If there's something which is wrong with the lens (e.g. focus ring not smooth, VR a bit juddery, etc.) and you ask for it to be put right then you could reasonably expect that it would be put right. But if there isn't anything wrong, then don't bother.

If you do have a problem though Fixation are excellent, particularly in terms of customer service. Had a lens go awry a couple of days before I was due to go away and they put a rush on it for me and got it done the day before I left.

I have a 12 year-old lens that is a bit 'grubby' and can't help thinking that some sort of good clean and check would be beneficial even though there are no apparant mechanical problems.
Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember occasional comments in sales threads about "just back from a service at ...".
Also Fixation have a 'lens service' option on their 'menu' so I guess it must be possible to service an older lens or they wouldn't offer it, hence my enquiry :shrug:

I think you'll find they also have a phone number on their web site. Why not just ask them? They won't bite.
 
Well yes, I could do that but I wanted to see what others here said as it's, you know .. 'the friendliest photo forum on the net' and I assumed, obviously wrongly, that some others may have used the service and would be able to comment.
 
I've used them to fix my flash gun (twice) and fix my 24-105 lens. Parts weren't forthcoming for the lens so they arranged a free of charge loan whilst mine was fixed (although I am a CPS member).

Never had an issue with fixation, so use them for everything.
