Fixer query

Hi folks.

I'm about to develop a couple of rolls of colour film from our Athens trip. I mixed up some fresh colour chemicals the other day (Rollei digibase). I didn't mix any new fixer but I have loads of black and white fixer here that I'm tempted to try with them. My question is this, are the fixers basically the same? Or will I ruin my film by using black and white fixer on them?

Cheers,
Nick.

To some extent all fixers are the same and certainly using E6/C41 fix works fine with B&W film as long as you keep the solutions just for one or the other process. I just use E6 fix for B&W and am happy that works fine.

I have no recent experience in processing C41 but here is what I dug up searching

It will no doubt work but as to it being wise that is another matter personally I would be inclined to trust Rowland Mowrey's opinion as he is a well known and respected retired employee of Eastman Kodak.

I thought you meant "fixer" as in someone who helps you navigate war torn countries :exit:

I wouldn't.

:agree: for your holiday shots ....you can't replace them!

However, i wouldshoot a roll, or part roll of cheapo film like vista and experiment ...then you;ll know for next time without the risk of losing precious memories(y)
