Flare with Sigma 20mm prime

Has anyone else had a problem with flare on the Sigma EX DG 20mm F1.8 lens?

Out of all my lenses this is the one I have not used for some time simply as I was dissolusioned with the flare it produced.

I have some examples of the shots taken with it in my archives but can I find them!!!!!!

I've only used it a handfull of times, so I've decided to try give it another go as I really don't want to sell it if I can overcome the problem. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Not used this lens, but I did have the Sigma 14mm which would flare on overcast days and went worse as the light improved. Only thing to do is try and shield the light source with your hand if you can, or change your composition to keep the light from flaring. A clean front element and lens hood (if you have one) can help as well.

Yes the lens hood with the 20mm is very shallow and doesn't shade the lens very well. i did consider seeing if I could pick up a deeper one but of course I have to watch it doesn't show in the shot!!
I have the Sigma 10-20mm and have no such problems...in fact that is a superb piece of kit.....just a shame this one isn't performing the same.
