Hi All,
Any advice on the best budget flash for a Nikon D5000? I have had a look at the Nissin 622i and Jessops 360afd but am sure there are more out there. Ideally under £100 and capable of working off camera as a slave unit. Also can you use these with wireless triggers attached to the hotshoe and which of these should I look at?

I have the Jessops 360 too, ok its for a canon but the same flash, and it works a treat

Will the 360 work with D5000? Jessops site don't list it?

From Jessops website:

For use with the following Nikon Digital SLRs: D40X, D40, D50, D70, D70s, D80 & D200
Nikon Coolpix: 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700, 8400, 8700, 8800.
Film SLRs: F4, F401, F5, F50, F60, F65, F70, F75, F801, F80, F90X, F100.

I use the Nissin on a D50 and can recommend it, I belive the mark 2 version is even better with more functions, but that will probably cost you over your £100 budget.

Cheers for the replies. Have taken a punt on the 360. Will have a play tonight :)

Do please let me know...I can't make my mind up..Nissin or Jessops? I've got Nikon d5000 as well :)

so does Jessops 360 AFD work alright with Nikon D5000?

Hi mate,
Seems to work just fine. Super powerful if you're only used to pop up flash - takes a bit of getting used too. Size is good, build quality is ok too. Will try and post a couple of pics this weekend so you can see the results. First impressions are very good but didn't try the nissin so you may want to compare the two. Slave mode works well but there is no stand in the box so you may want to buy one separately.
Personal advice is to go for it. For £80 it's a great starter flash.

Thanks for sharing info Phil. Much appreciated. Off to Trafford Centre now to have a look at Jessops. Would be great if you can post some pics. TBH I am still torn between Jessops and Nissin.
