Bit of a noob question but have purchased a cheap flash a Yongnuo YN560 II which works fine on the camera (Canon 550d). I also purchased a cable to take it off camera but its a TTL cable and doesn't work my own fault for not checking it out first, so my question is what kind of cable do I need to use it off camera I cant seem to find any non TTL cables. Any help would be appreciated.

Your post is confusing. Do you want a cable to fire the flash off camera manually? Can you explain what is happening when it's connected?

Have you tried switching the flash to manual?.

I want a cable that will fire the flash as it would if the flash was on the camera ie with the shutter release if I attach the TTL cable nothing happens but as the flash is non TTL then I assume the cable is wrong

Have you tried switching the flash to manual?.

Yes the flash is only manual

why not get some wireless triggers, yonguno 3's or is something more specific?

Check that you have a Canon cable. Give all the contacts a good clean and push/fiddle with.

You don't get TTL cables and non TTL cables nowadays.............................I think, the cable is really just an extension of the hotshoe contacts.

To clarify, the flash works OK on camera but when the flash is on the cable it no worky?

Thanks for the speedy replies it seems that I am a bit thick as problem now solved i had connected the shoe on the flash the wrong way it was that simple sorry to be a pain but its all new to me Thanks again everyone for your patience and help
