Flash gun assistance for a rookie

Hello Gang

I've recently bought a new flash to go on my old Canon D60 but it doesn't seem to fire on the hot shoe or on the off camera cord at all, is there any member local to the Stoke on Trent/Tunstal area who would be kind enough to take a look and bear out my issues before I return it? I am pretty much a novice at present and would hate to over look something silly.

Maybe if you post the make & moel of the flash someone may be able to help you? Not me though, I'm clueless. My only help would be to google it!
 
I'm in Biddulph, no expert, but would be happy to check it out for you.
What make/model is it and where did you buy it from.

Oh don't get me wrong the seller has been golden about all this I'm looking for another gun to test now to see if there's a chance I might have burnt out my hot shoe with my old gun, and a test or repair

Hmm!! I have the Nikon SB900 (not sure if it would work on a Canon and wonder if there was a problem whether it would blow my flash as well.....expensive to replace!! )
But I have an old CB450 Hanimex flash gun which I am more than happy for you to try.

I not sure if the Nikon would work either and wouldn't want to run the risk is the older gun single pin on the connection?

Yes, single pin on the hotshoe.
Still trying to find my way around the site!!! especially how to send PM, so if its not a problem could you send me a PM if the older flash is of any use and you are interested in trying it out.

Not sure if posting your tel. No. is wise on the internet . not everyone is trust worthy i'd edit post asap if I were you .

Did think twice about doing it. I think I have managed to sort out the PM now.

Np you have to have a minimum post count before you can pm I can't remember what it is though .
