Today I finally brought a flash gun and a 1A skylight filter.

Tbh the flash has really pickled my head with the settings, I'm still trying to get to grips with my dslr settings never mind a new toy to mess with lol. Oh well looks like iv got plenty of time to get there.

Its only a jessops 360AFDC

Hey there's nothing wrong with the 360, a friend of mine had one of those and he found it a real breeze to use. What's pickled your head

Just the settings on it, I don't get the fractions

The fractions are to do with the power of the flash
1/1 is full power, 1/2 is half power (i.e 1 stop less light) and so on, each fraction is a stop less light.

So shooting at ISO 100 at 1/1 power should give roughly the same exposure as ISO 200 at 1/2 power

I made myself a little chart with fstops and distances for power settings when using on manual mode which I found more acurate than the LCD

Are we talking about the 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 values etc. If so and if my memory serves me right, these are the power outputs you can set when the gun is in manual mode. For example, if you select 1/2, this reduces the flash output to half full power, 1/4 would be a quarter of full power and so on (sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs). Your instruction book should detail this, but I have found that Jessops guides aren't always the best. Hopes this helps
