Yes
ok never used a flash gun before and as i need one now im going to buy a nikon flash gun to go with my d300s.

now i have a question about using it off camera, do i need to extend the hotshoe or will a sync cord fire the flash with all its functions intact.

thanks people.

Hi.

No need for a sync cord.

Pop your flash first into slave, then manual mode and you can set your camera flash power output very low to just trigger the slave flash.

This will give you much more flexibility for off camera flash!

Hope that helps,
Phil.

yea that does thanks would not have thought about going that way..

The important thing is to get the light off-camera, not necessarily the flash gun. You can leave it on-camera, and bounce off the ceiling or walls.

Ok so i dont know if Nikon flashes work in the same way as Canon but you get more control over your flash in camera using a ettl hotshoe cord than the camera/fash wireless option. But thats maybe all you want for your needs.

yea thats what i was on about thx
