Flash Not Popping Up

I sold a mate my old Fuji S5700 bridge a couple of years ago, and the flash has decided to stop popping up, but other than that he's still happy with the camera. He asked if he should take it to Jessops to be repaired, told him I'm fairly certain they'll want nothing to do with it.

I suggested that given what he paid for it he'd be better off ebaying it as spares/repairs and buying something else. Anyone tried repairing something similar themselves, or recommend somewhere cheap who could repair?

hope hes not giving you hassle over a 2nd hand camera that is a few years old!

it'll cost more to get repaired,there are cheap used ones on Amazon around £60

Heheh! Nah he's absolutely not, but he's the kind of guy who hates binning something that's got a minor fault but is otherwise working fine, I know where he's coming from.

£60's still more than he paid for mine... I must be a mug

Has he done a google and are there any DIY fixes to try ??

If it's going in the round file, then other than a bit of time, he's nothing to loose

If he is thinking about selling it on for repairs, though, I wouldn't do anything to it, sell it as working with a dodgy flash

Had an issue with that last year! The day prior to a shoot!

If he's had a pocket whiz etc on, sometimes they stick.

Quick fix - Bic pen, press on hotshot black spot - Voila?? Sometimes they stick..

worth a go?

Andy - had a look for fixes, but they all involved taking the cam to bits... I suspect he.might welcome the excuse to upgrade, that's what I've recommended!

Chris - ta for the input, but the cam is a bridge, not a DSLR, so the mechanism is purely mechanical...
