Would like too try some off-camera flash, I already have a cord but was after a wireless attachment !

Any recommendations ???

Camera is a canon 1D with a 430ex ii
 
ETTL or Manual?

Is the 1d a classic or a later one?

The specs vary slightly and the price varies wildly - you'll need to come back with really specific requirements or do a lot of reading to make sure you get what you want.

(If I didn't have the PWs I'd get a set of the YN622s)

Blimey, I only wanted to have ago, not sure where to go from here lol
 
i obtained some thing similar to syk4.... i paid £25 from a shop but there on the internet for a few quid....

they are literally a trigger mechanism, they dont do ettl and the like etc- but then for only a few quid theyre really handy!!

The thing is Manual triggers are dead simple, and cheap. To do ETTL requires a lot of reverse engineering of Canon's hardware, so some manufacturers choose to leave some bits out to save money (High speed sync or second curtain sync). Yongnuo have waited a while and I'd guess have just copied the internals from other manufacturers (Pixel King?).

Have a look at the video posted here showing what they do.
I'm not sure whether the 1dIII does ratio control from the body though?
 
I use Yongnuo RF-603 triggers and they never fail plus they use more readily available AAA batteries.
