Hi, I'm after a flash for my canon 60d.
Limited budget - recommendations please and advice.

Hi. What's your budget? I can only recommend the 580exii as that's the only one I've used.
Could be out of your price range though..
 
on a budget and want to learn about manual flash take a risk on a yongnuo 560, if you you have a bit more money go for the TTL yongnuo 565 with ttl.
I say take the risk because I have bought 3 my first was a bad copy which I sent back for an exchange. Since then all the units sent have worked perfect. I think yongnuo flashes are like lenses there are some bad copies around.

If you're new to flash then you'd probably be better off with a TTL capable flash. I've got a Nissin Di866, which is similar to the 580EX II, but the wife has a Di622 which is similar to the 430EX II. The 622 MkI needs a firmware update to work with the 60D, but the Di622 MkII works straight out of the box. Very good flashes and you can get them from around £90 for the MkII and are well worth what you pay.
