Up until recently I had a photobucket account and have recently got a flckr account.

A couple of things.

Would you upload the full sized jpeg or do you compress them to make them smaller for the web? And how do you do that if so? I have PS Elements

When I then want to paste the image into a post on here, I'm struggling to find which http:// etc link I use to paste, all I get is a link to the image, I had no problems with the photobucket.

Sorry for asking pretty basic questions but trying to upload lots of my pics without blowing the upload limit too soon.

Cheers

What exactly you upload in terms of image size is totally up to you, but remember flickrs two default sizes are 500 and 1024 pixels....one is a bit small the other too big for here, so personally I resize everything to 800pxs on longest side and thats it, no additional compression - but thats just my preference, YOU may prefer to upload larger images then post a small one here with a link to a bigger. Horse for courses.

As for finding the link, go to the image on flickr, click on all sizes from the icon list above the image. This opens th eimage in a new page and underneath will be two things. One is the embed html thingy, ignore that. Under that will be the actual URL of the image, thats the one you need to copy.

Come back to the forum, and start you post. Add th eimage like you did with photobucket, by using the little picture icon at the top and paste the url you just copied into it. Remember there is already an 'http://' in the box, so pasted over it or delete it, otheriwse pic wont show becuase it will have 2 'https://'s

HTH! ;)

Thankyou muchly.

Will resize to 800 from now on, obviously kills two birds with one stone as it makes the image size acceptable for this forum whilst compressing them and taking up less of the monthly upload limit.
