Flickr Contacts

I only have 1/2 a dozen Flickr contacts, but when I get someone who make me their contact I tend to look at who is on their list.

Do you pick someone because the are a friend or family, maybe you think they produce stunning and unusual photos.

What I really want to know is why Chiara Ferragni has hundreds of contact. :thinking::thinking:

If I see a Flickr link in someone's sig I usually take a look, and if I remember I add them as a contact.
 
I add folks on flickr because of their photographs, or if they add me or comment/fav my photos - also if they are related to a forum i am a member of :)

i have one contact on flickr and still have no real clue how to use it properly, i just add my pictures and thats about as much as i know how. Dont even really know how to put tags on properly. :D
 
the idea of flickr is not just a photo storage utility - it's the community element and making worthwhile contacts - or that is the way i see it, unfortunately the worthwhile groups where i would make contacts are mostly inactive - talking of which so it the talk photography group :p

Joined up yesterday.

I don't tent to go actively looking for new friends, but If I come across someone I know I will add them to my friends list.

i need to get a move on with adding some peeps before i move back to the carribean... Just like having other peoples pictures to look at.
 
I add contacts for many reasons:

Family
They are members of TP
I come across their work in Explore, and like their stream
They live near me, or take shots local to me
They add me
They make one of my shots a fav, or comment on one

I love flickr :D Though I don't take part in the social side of it as much as I used to.
 
When ever someone adds one of my photo's as a fav or writes a comment, I check their stream out and will add them if i find inspiration in any of their work, or of course they add me first..

your more than welcome to view my stream...leave a comment to show you have popped in and add TP to the end so I know your from here.. lol
 
I don't actively seek new friends (although I may make an exception for Chiara Ferragni :naughty: ), but have got 170 contacts. However, I have 503 people call me a contact. Am I bad for not having everone of those 503 people as my contacts? As I said, I don't actively look for new contacts. it's usually other people that add me. I will then look at their stream, and if the have a similar taste in photography as me, or are from my local area, or sometimes if the are just UK based, I will add them. Of course, there are friends and family too, and people from this forum and others which I frequent. I'm also a member of lots of groups. I guess I'm what people call a 'Flickr whore' :D
 
If someone adds me as a contact I would look through their photos and see if there is anything I like, and usually I'd add them too. Other contacts I would add are those with great pictures whom I'd like to follow.
 
I'll usually add someone as a contact if I come across their Flickr stream and I think they've posted a significant number of interesting shots.

If they don't maintain my interest then I just drop them. :coat:

I won't automatically add people as contacts just because they've added me, though. :nono:
 
I have just joined so needs sorting but i'll be basing my 'buddies' on the type of photography they do.

TBH I don't recognise the name, but I can bet you it will be one (or many) of three things :

1. She consistently takes and uploads excellent photos which please me to look at.
2. She doesn't upload 5,000 photos of the same thing (eg a motorsports sequence etc)
3. She's incredibly hot and takes self portraits

I'm thinking it's a combination of all three :D

I regularly have a clearout of my flickr contacts, and I now mark all contacts as friends. (So I can restrict some photos to contacts only - Can't do that otherwise).
I normally apply the above three criteria, mainly 1 and 2 tbh. Contacts who haven't uploaded for ages get culled, as do those who upload millions of shots of topics that don't interest me personally (regardless of how good the photography is).

It's just so I make my flickr contacts stream something I want to view through of an evening :)

I've just joined the Flickr group now :) as for contacts i just tend to add people who request me too atm as im new to Flickr so im not picky :lol:
 
Just had a look at my contacts list. 21 contacts -

10 are people off a music forum I'm on.
1 colleague
3 are people from here

the remainder are mostly people who shoot live music, generally young people who are shooting the same gigs as me. Some added me first, others I looked for after finding their myspace.

Lol well what few i have on atm are local people of a group im in with some reasonable photos and if they like to add me as a contact and give odd ok comment im not going to complain :D

Im never sort of person to go adding people on most stuff tbh be in flickr, facebook or even my Xboxlive :shrug: though i will comment on photos that do stand out really :) ....saying that i wont add people i dont know on Xbox or facebook etc:
 
i just dont feel like i have enough photos yet to have anyone look at my stream and find any inspiration on it. Maybee in a few months/years time :D
 
plus i get disheartened cos i havnt had a comment at all yet :(
