Flickr Exif 5Diii v's 7D

I wonder if anyone has an idea as to why Flickr does not show my 5Diii pictures Exif data, but it does show both my 7D or 550D Exif data.

Here is an example taken on the 5Diii this morning and uploaded to Flickr a few moments ago:

Exif data is virtually non existent.:suspect:

By contrast, here is a 7D shot from my last Flickr upload:

All the Exif data is there to see.

Both shots are (lightly) processed in exactly the same way on the same computer before upload.

I've noticed this lack of Exif data with ALL my uploaded 5Diii shots.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?:shrug:
 
I have noticed this before on other people photos when i have been trying to figure out how the shot has been taken, but there was a lack of EXIF data, i always assumed it was a user setting or something to hide the EXIF on upload, but that appears to not be the case here

I used to think the same on some peoples Flickr's but I can concur - Definitely not! I often process a number of images from two or three cameras and will then batch upload at the same time, so the upload settings are always the same.:thinking:
 
Flickr sometimes shows my EXIF data.. it sometimes doesn't. I've no idea why.. Does it really matter if anyone can see your EXIF data?

Just checked to see (hadn't thought of this), and it would appear that the 5Diii Exif data is being stripped on conversion to jpeg for some reason:shrug: Ah well, that answers why Flickr doesn't have the data. I'm not doing anything differently in converting the RAW files from the 5Diii or the 7D or the 550D.:suspect:

Some folks seem to care!:lol: Perosnally, I don't mind either way but it can be handy to see what camera/lens combo I was using at the time.

Well i know i like to look at EXIF data on shots that i admire as i like to be able to see how that shot was taken, for me it's all part of the learning process

I also like to have my EXIF intact especially where something hasn't turned out how i wanted it as someone might be able to point out a simple solution as to why i haven't achieved what i set out to achieve
 
For me Flickr seems to only keep the EXIF data on the shots that haven't been cropped. If I crop the image and resave it to the same file with a (a) suffix to separate the original from the cropped then the EXIF data doesn't appear. Maybe that's got something to do with it but both the OP's photos look cropped but still having the 7D EXIF appear.

Flickr does show the EXIF from my 5D3 as long as the image is complete as well but not always that of my 7D or 60D before it.
 
Virtually every shot I have on Flickr is cropped in some way or other so that's not the issue. In fact, now that I've seen the jpegs aren't retaining the 5Diii Exifs, I can say that ALL my uploaded Flickr shots have the Exif intact if it was there in the first place - no matter if a shot has been cropped etc.

So, my issue isn't with Flickr.:lol:

Four different bodies (550, 5Dii, 7D & 5Diii) all being processed to a greater or lesser extent in the same program (FastStone) and only the 5Diii looses the Exif when saved as a jpeg.:shrug:

Probably not to the photographer who took the image but it is sometimes interesting to see the settings someone else used to capture a particular shot. It helps with the learning process :)

I would have said the same and I don't think its a Flickr problem. I'm doing exactly the same thing in saving the CR2 files to jpegs from my 7D or my 550D and the Exif data isn't being lost.:shrug:

I think if you use bridge you can tell it when you convert to jpeg if you wish to retain Exif. LR4 on export keeps the exif or again you can strip it.

I like to see the exif same as other good to see how the shot was done

Its the first thing I do when I look at someone elses Flickr site...
