flight bag/case for camera gear

I'm flying long haul in a couple of weeks and have been looking at bags /cases
for my gear it will be carry-on.
I looked at the Peli 1510 case , this is a really nice case but even empty tops the carry-on allowance .
I' flying with virgin ...cattle class ,
any recomendations

I've got it down to this.
and taking the grip of the D700.

D700 , 24-70.f2.8, 300mm f4 Nikon . Nikon 1.7 tc. sb900.
+ few filters .
all chargers and spare battery's will go in main case.

the D700 feels heavier than my d3s but more compact..
