im new to photography and also new to flikr...i was thinking about upgrading. Apart from the obvious you can have unlimited uploads...what other benefits is there, and is it worth upgrading?

Yes, it's worth upgrading, or at least it is to me. The full benefits are listed on Flickr (oddly enough), the most useful ones being the extra uploads, removing the 200 image visibility cap (you can have more than 200 images uploaded but it's harder for others to see them), and the statistics features.

Whether or not it's worth upgrading depends on what you want from Flickr, how many images you upload and what you subsequently do with them.

This.

I went pro a long time ago, then let it lapse.

If you resize your images for web (72dpi, no longer than 800px) they are generally quite small filesizes and you'd have to upload a lot to hit the cap.

If you want to have full size (resolution) images on there, and multiple sets, and a lot of historic images (more than 200) it's worth it.

Of course it is worth it. What is £16 a year in the scheme of things when you consider how much we spend on our photography.

I upgraded primarily to use the unlimited upload feature as I send links to my family etc of various pictures, and also, I prefer the layout etc to Flickr's competitors.

Flickr have a detailed comparison here.

I think there are better uses for the money personally and won't be renewing mine.
