I picked this bloom up in the local florists but I completly forgot to ask the woman what it is. Anybody know the name?

 
It's a leucosperumum more commonly known in the floristry world as a nutan, funny things but I love them.

Brilliant - and thank you. It was the first time I'd done a flower as a still life but I might do a series - helps to know what the bloody things are called though :)
 
Yes it is a Leucospermum and to me it looks like Leucospermum cordifolium. The common name is pincushion and it is from the Protea family. The natural habitat is in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Your welcome :) When I had my florists there was a guy that used to buy flowers off me all the time to photograph, eventually I used to give him the flowers for free and he would give me a nice print.

Get friendly with your florist (y)
