Hey, well this is my second attempt at this flower...
Honest C&C please...

soft areas loosing detail and saturation
the light is a bit arty farty...try daylight and not from behind
good luck
i dont have all that much success with flowers unless they are outside and in the dirt
your seed box is sharp though and i guess you got the best you could with dof on your lens
and i suspect a tripod
all will be revealed in your answer post

Yes it was the best I could get with my lens 18-55mm 3.5
Tripod, yes.
Used my speedlight from behind to give the vains in the leaves shows.
I definately take your point about the soft areas.

I'm not a fan of the light I'm afraid - it all seems a bit forced... and the soft areas have already been pointed out.

If anything I think you are trying a bit too hard - try to simplify things a bit and have another go
