I like the idea how you have cropped the flower in no#1 and also like the background. I think the first flower looks a little soft and believe the middle should be the main focus point. I'm not a lover of flower shots though and maybe this is what you had in mind anyway. No#2 I really like. All in all a great start and hopefully first of many posts mate 
On the flip side the missus says that I'm totally wrong and it's a nice blurred effect and she REALLY likes the first one

Seems that ya missus has great taste as well as taking great pictures.
