Fly on a chive flower - Advice please

Too small. Even looking at the larger version it appear a bit soft or oof. What equipment did you use?

It looks like the focus is just beyond the flys head, if you see lt flower there it's in focus. It's an easy thing to do with such a shallow dof. Composition wise I'd have the fly more to the left so it is looking into the area on the right.

Lens attachment for macro are ok but not as good as a dedicated macro lens with a 1:1 ratio.

Keep at it though it's not easy. Take a look at some of Ajphotog's stuff, it's consistently brilliant. There are a few others on here who are excellent macro photographers too. Just look, read, practice and learn(y)

No exif data in the shot, it looks a little noisy but can't advise as don't know what settings you used. If you used one of the cheap £10 close up lens sets that E-bay sells the quality won't be great.
