I agree. Were you using the bare lens, or also using a close-up lens? (I use close-up lenses on my 55-250 STM, which works well.)

No, that isn't bad. I was surprised that you could do as well as that just using the 55-250 lens. It is a good, sharp lens, but it doesn't provide much magnification. So you did well.
