Yes
nope ive not been to any foam parties.

im trying to track down the cause of an intermittent metering issue with my 20D, it often (well now more often than not now) flashes at 30" in av mode telling me their is no light, when their is, sometimes it;ll clear, other times it wont, so i did all the usual settings reset, batteries out, checked the lens contacts etc, seems to all be in order and the problem happens regardless of lens which eliminates it being a lens issue.

so i took a peak inside, their is a piece of foam that is positioned just inside the camera infront of the mirror, and it overlaps the casing by about 3-4mm, is this in the correct position?

photos are below?

is there anything else i should check and clean before writing it off as NFG?

edit: i will definetly be removing that hair thats visable in the picture!

That foam is the bump stop for the mirror. It flips up very fast n needs a bit of cushioning when t gets there. Yours does look a little squint but I doubt it is blockng any snsors as it looks to be clear of the focussing screen. Sounds like you might have a duff sensor?

I should have mentioned mine has always behaved badly when it gets cold. The culpret is the canon grip. I have to use it without sometimes. It's a known fault in the early BG-E2's that canon knows about.
Are you using it with a grip, if so try it without.

I am actually using it with a grip, id love to try it without but the battery door is in the box about 200miles away.

ill keep it in mind though, thansk alot 18% really useful info :)

You do know there's a parking space inside the grip for the battery door. I've always keep mine there so I can't loose it.
