Focus Assist and Speedlights

I've noticed since I got an SB800 as an upgrade to my SB600 that focusing is more accurate in low light using the focus assist lamp.

Has anyone seen a comparison between the differing flashes and their ability to hold focus, or have any personal experiences?

The reason is I'm looking at getting a backup flash and was interested in the Metz, Nissin and Sigma offerings and this doesn't seem to be talked about in the reviews I've been reading.

Also, (you might already know this) you can use the flash focus assist beam to focus in no light, without having to fire the flash.

Yep, that i know [emoji56] my question is more about which flash has the best assist lamp, as the reviews don't cover this.
