Has anyone used or have one of these ? do they work ? easy to use ? Value !!! ? what is the alternative for focus fine tune - suggestions pls.
Do a search for "dot tune." I find it quick/easy/accurate... and free.Brought one after looking at home made devices on youtube and the like and decided it would be money well spent.
As Gramps said there easy to use and very precise.
thanks chaps - i'll order one and report !!! - up til now I've just thrown a tv times on the floor and focussed on various progs . adjusting back/forward on the results. With latest camera D750 have several lenses and havn't found a 'sweet' +/- for my fav 24-70 f2.8 . Primes are easy but the two zooms I use (24-70 Nikon and 70-300 tamron) are more difficult - maybe I can do several FL tests a bit quicker and then take the 'average' ?? - thoughts ?
Yes. It's especially camera dependent. With my D800 I had to continually retune when the working distance changed significantly (not w/ my D810/D4).Yep, fine tuning zooms isn't something that you can rely on in the same way as primes. If you tend to shoot at the long end of your 70-300 the majority of the time, you could do it @ 300mm, but it'll probably c0ck it up @ the wider end. Also try tuning it @ a distance you use mostly.
