My saga with Nikon continues...
After going steadily up the mid-range zoom range I ended up biting the bullet and buying a 24-70 from the forums here. It seemed okay at first, but I was off on my holidays so didn't really notice the issue until I got there. It focuses okay on my D700 wide open with the center focus point, but if I use the outer ones it virtually always back focuses.
I also used it at the Norfolk strobist meet t'other night and had a lot of focus issues where the outer focus points just were not even remotely accurate and struggled to find the target at all.
I've not had much luck with Nikon lenses, but never felt the body was a problem as my other lenses seemed to focus okay. I have got a Siggy 24-70 HSM on borrow that has some inaccuracies, but I put that down to the lens too, although the owner says he never had any problem.
This got me thinking that maybe the body is having trouble with zoom lenses? Is it possible? I'm planning on testing the lens out on another D700 and a D300 this week, but would appreciate some insight.
