Focus micro adjustment

I'm reading a lot about various lenses having back or front focussing problems, which can sometimes be cured by micro adjustment within the camera. But which Canon dSLRs have this facility? Between my wife and I we have a 550D, 40D and 5D Mk1. Am I correct in thinking none of these can do focus micro adjustment? :(

Have you not read any of the manuals then? :shake:
 
None of those have that feature David, if your lenses aren't focusing correctly then you'll have to send them off for calibration.
My 50D has it as I'd imagine do most bodies from that generation onwards.
 
Interesting read. Just got my 1st camera with micro adjustment so I'm off for a play.
 
Micro focus adjustment is a great addition to modern cameras. And you don't need fancy expensive lens cal gizmos to get your lenses spot on. The only thing I would say is that if your adjusting your lenses the you have to be methodical and consistent in the way you do the testing. A tripod is an absolute must. I cal my telephoto lenses at 25 times the focal length at max aperture and to have a 50-50 depth of field. Even an adjustment of + or - 2 can be seen quite clearly.

Thanks for the help, everyone else. Not sure I have a problem with any of my lenses, but would like to know I was getting the best I can from them.

If you go looking for problems, you'll probably find them. Whether they're significant or not is another matter.

AF micro adjust is a risky business if you use some of the test methods suggested around the web, especially those that involve shooting a small angled target at close range. You may well find errors that don't exist.

Search against my user name for an easy and reliable method.
