focus point jumps!

a strange thing tonight.. was taking a picture of a document.. had the setting still set for sports.. was just a quick pic... was on ai servo.. cnter point... the red square lit up and i took the shot.. but i saw the red square jump to the right after i took the pic....... eh?

Moving to an assist point???? or your centre point hasn't picked up a high enough contrast area to lock onto.

Hmmm had it a been a jump to the left, followed by a step to the right then I'd have probably suggested it was a Time Warp

maybe you're just clocking on a bit and your hands just aint as steady as they used to be

hhhm i didnt "think" it worked that way.. i thought they assisted with the main focus point not jumped to it

They do work as you describe, except if your centre point cant/wont lock onto a target it will switch to the nearest point that will, it depends on how your AF is set up with regard to focus/release options.

Have you had this particular camera in for service/repair lately, not uncommon for the repair technicians to reset the AF system to its defaults, im pretty sure you keep a back up of your custom functions so might be worth while reloading from your last good back up.
