Focus screen transplant

The Canon EOS 5 camera body today has very little value, judging by the on-going price.
This has prompt me to see if I can salvage the focus screen from it and use is on 5D mk2.
I have do this on previously owned 5D mk1.
Using a focus screen from 1D (iirc) spare part.

The benefit is for aiding manual focusing

The actual surgery is not near as intricate as a brain surgery, although does require Zen and clam. I have done this on 5D and 350D before.

Anyone knows if the focus screens on EOS5 and EOS5D mk2 are interchange-able?

I expect that you'll have to remove some of the location tags from the 5's screen to fit in the 5DII's clip.
Will it be worthwhile? I hazzard a guess, not really. The screen from the old 5 will be quite bright in comparison and this will make it more difficult to judge focus and getting an idea of DoF even less likely.

No harm in playing though.

Bob
