Focusing on a d90

I need some help please.

On my old D50 to focus on a particular point all I did was move the rocker switch to where I wanted it.

I cannot seem to do the same on the d90. I have read the instructions and K Rockwell's guide (which said leave it on AF-A and the lever on L position).

Is there someone who can please explain to me what I need to do to vary of focus point.

so for example,when photographing my son, I can focus on the eyes and nothing else

take the lever off of the L position to the dot and then use the rocker to change the focus point?

Dont listen to KR for a start!

The L locks the buttons so you dont accidently change the focus point, take it off L and then the switches will move the focus point.
