I'm looking to upgrade my camera body & lenses. Is it worth waiting for Focus On Imaging later this month? Do the major manufacturers offer good deals at this event or will I get better prices online (camerpricebuster.com etc)?

Don't want to leave it too late as I read in Professional Photographer magazine that prices could be going up again in March. :bang:

Look at the prices of the items you want, then wait for focus. If you can get a better deal there then great, if not then go home and order the stuff that night...simple :D

Yeah, thanks for that. :) I was hoping to hear of people's experience of the event really. Having never been I don't know if the manufacturers have historically laid on decent deals or whether their discounts are based on the (inflated) RRPs which would mean that you'd be getting the kit for 'street' price.

I went last year and got some GREAT deals - you may also find that companies are keen to haggle...I got an extra discount just for being cheeky and doing the umming and ahhing routine ;)

Cheers,
James

Haha, roll on FOI 2010 :D

There are some good deals to be had. Picked up a 1Dslll £250 cheaper than anywhere else. Good buy as I havn't seen it that low since, plus latest price increases seem to have put is up to over £750 more than I paid for it

Not taking credit card this year !!!!!

are you gonna be going to focus? i ordered my pas yesterday, if you are going was wondering if you wanted to car share to save petroleum?

(sorry to go off subject)

If you know exactly what you want and are in the fortunate position of having the funds burning a hole in your pocket, why not take some printouts from camerapricebuster with you, take the cash, do a quick trawl of the traders there and get down to some serious "Here's my money, wouldn't you like to have it" haggling?

As others have said, if there isn't a deal to be had you come home and do it the old-fashioned way (internet, credit card, paypal, try to dodge the carriage costs;))
