No
I went to the party and many comments in the form of "oh you're camera is huge, you must be a pro" :suspect:

The comment that topped the night off for me- "you're a pro photographer, how much do you charge for weddings, we're getting hitched next year"

I said I am a pro in regards to shooting horses, and I'd get back to them :bang:

Obviously do not want to do it, so do I go down the "I'm sorry I don't want to shoot your wedding" route, or the "yes I'll do it, that will be £5k" route and put them off with the price :rules:

Opinions!

just explain that weddings are a particular skill and require different photographic and interpersonal and organisation skills to other (and your) type of photography, so you wouldnt want to be in any way responsible for their memories of the day...

I suspect a simple "sorry, I don't do weddings" would've done the trick there and then

Yup I would just say no

A lady at work recently asked if I would photograph her wedding based on seeing some fashion portraits and remarking that she liked the look. I just had to say a polite no and recomend someone else. :)

We get this a lot at the studio, people asking about weddings. A simple 'no, we don't offer weddings, but can recommend someone else' has always been sufficient

I've never had a stranger approach me to enquire about doing a wedding, but if they had I'd say something along the lines of "Sorry, I only shoot with film - and black & white film at that". I'd imagine that would be enough to end the conversation. ;)

And the thing is, I'd be telling the truth.

As per your reply Carl ;)
