Football Shooting Tips

I would suggest not using IS. Get low when shooting football, don't chase the game, try fill the frame, use a fast enough shutter speed (you will need at least 1/640 but in good light you should be looking at 1/1000+ (up the ISO if needed). Normally I will use either f4 or f2.8 to achieve a shallow depth of field and allow a decent shutter speed.
 
Don't forget to post some of your photos on the Sports Feedback where you will get great feedback from some very good sports photographers. I have gained knowledge from these people.
 
Don't photograph a team you support/follow otherwise you'll end up celebrating and not clicking.....

i missed so many goals when i started with my team and it makes me laugh when i see others doing what i did..goal flying in and some photogrpaher in background wiht fist in air haha :)

I support Palace, so there are never any goal to photograph (on the couple of occasions I have done some of their preseason stuff....!)
