At the moment I actually have all the lenses that I need. But I am looking for something that I could experiment with now. Most of my work is wedding related, some portraits.

Currently I have

16-35/2.8L mk1
24-70/2.8L mk1
70-200/2.8 (Sigma) Seldom use

35/1.4L
50/1.4 (Canon)
85/1.2L
85/1.8
135/2.0L

Price isn't really a concern, up to £1,500. I have made a shortlist and here they are

24/1.4 - Something wide for weddings evening shots on the dance floor.
50/1.2 - just so I can upgrade the 1.4 to this (not sure if it is worth it)
100/2.8L IS Macro - useful perhaps for detail shots

A Tilt/Shift lens, not sure which one, i would think the 45mm T/S would be best as I love the 35mm on my 5D. I have seen some amazing T/S portraits and would like to try that for myself.

Ideally I would get them all but i can't afford that !
 
You say you want to experiment so maybe you should go beyond what you alread have. You could go...

Wider than 16mm, longer than 200mm, fisheye or the tilt you seem to want... There's four things you havent got, and then there's macro...

Less exciting, but something you seem to be lacking would be a 20 or 24mm fast lens, but you can already do 16-24mm covered at f2.8 so would this really be that exciting?

Less exciting again, incremental change maybe would be to "upgrade" your existing Canon 50 and 85mm f1.4's to Siggy. The Siggy 50 wins every review against the Canon and the although the Siggy 85mm is a teeny tiny bit slower than the Canon I've read several reviews that place it a little in front especially in focus performance.
 
Gary's suggestion of the 8-15 would work well for something a little (very) different. It's very flexible, has quality output and is well removed from anything else in your bag.....evens leaves enough in the kitty for a 135/2.8 soft focus.

100mm macro is very useful
24mm f/1.4 can be also very useful
do you take any architectural shots? - 17TSE or 24TSE
something great for portraits - 300/2.8L

or 70-200 f/2.8L IS II. Simply beats all the primes in the range.
 
50mm 1.2 is a truly epic lens. If I had the rest of your kit, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that the 1.2 is out there waiting for me.

Alternatively, you could rent the 24mm for your next wedding and see if there's a place for it alongside your 16-35.

Finally, not that I'd ever do a wedding but if I did, I'd definitely want a macro in my bag for rings and other details.

That didn't narrow it down much did it? :lol:
 
I would suggest renting the lenses and then playing with them to see what you prefer. Either that or just save the money for a rainy day! ;)

Apart fom being slower and heavier with more CA and distortion...barrel (wide) and pin cushion (tele). Bokeh and colour rendition are subjective so not a point to be argued.

I do agree though that it's excellent for a zoom and has amazing resolution.

I'm not really a big fan of fisheye, both in its resulting effect and it's application. Nor my style require the canon 70-200 mkii. I've not used the sigma in over 18 months because that's not the focal length that I shoot with.

I'm really tempted by the 100mm macro, mainly for the macro side of things but less so for it as a portrait lens. I have the 85L and 135L for that. So I'm unconvinced what the 100mm will bring to the party. I am intrigue by what I can do with its macro features though.

Same as the 45 TS, only concern is that it is a very old design and fear it'll get replaced soon. Seeing the 17 & 24 TS got a refresh last year.

However, you guys have given me food or thought, IR could be a possibly, and I guess the 8-15mm could be too, need to see more samples from it first, it is still a very new lens.
 
I would suggest giving a fish eye a go. Some interesting effects can be achieved with one. Love my Samyang 8mm and with your budget you can get something even better.
