Well I spent last weekend at the Morgan Horse Regionals in Syracuse NY. I thought you might like to see how we do a horse show here as it is a bit different.

Just to let you know I had to shoot at ISO 1600 so the results are horrid but you can still see the important bits!


Saddle Seat - Reserve Champion Walk Trot Jr. Exhibitor

Hunter Pleasure - Walk Trot Jr. Exhibitor (she took champ but I didn't get a pic w/ her ribbons on) I used to train horses for her grandparents.

Western Pleasure - Open (professionals) Champion - This was a really really nice mare who was just a pleasure to watch do her job in the ring.

Beautiful horses and a very elegant discipline, dressage. 'What long tails they have!' - it's a wonder they didn't trip over them!

It isn't dressage it is something called Saddle Seat. It seems to be unique to america. The horses have exaggerated knee and hock action and they have necks that come out of the shoulder vertical. Usually it is Morgans, Saddlebreds and Arabians who do it.
