For those with the sigma 10-20, what filters do you use?

I've got a Sigma 10-20mm lens and looking at using filters with it, but I've heard of vignetting with screw on filters, so before I bite the bullet and by a 10Nd filter, do I go for square or screw in?

For those who use square and use more than 1 filter, does it visible in photos, does it need cropping out?

What sort of money have people spent with their filter set ups?
 
I've got the Siggy 10-20 and match it up with various filters, mostly Cokin P-type.

Out of the box, you get vignetting at 10mm, well, more than vignetting, you actually see the holder (!) - BUT if you're never going to use more than one filter, you can saw off the front of the holder to eliminate this.

The Cokin P-holder can take 3 filters at once, I figured I'll never use more than 2: 1x ND grad and 1x ND so just chopped the last one - so can get as wide as 11mm without seeing it in frame.

If you put it on top of a Cir-PL though, you run into issues again, but then you're shooting through 3 filters which can cause issues in itself unless you're forking out for Lee/B&W.
 
NB: I use fairly budget filters, Cokin & Hoya, as couldn't justify spending serious £££ on filters - I get the odd colour cast, but nothing that shooting in RAW can't fix :)
 
I bought a 1 bay (which doesn't vignette) and a 3 bay Cokin p type filter holder for mine.

If you're only using 1 filter at a time then you can use the 1 bay one right down to 10mm. If you use the 3 bay and stack some filters then you need to zoom into about 12/13mm.

Filter wise I bought some Cokin soft NDs and a Hi-tech 10 stop filter. For the p-type you need the 10 stop that is a square 85mm with 1.5mm gasket.

You can't really use circular ones without a step up or extender ring as the lens protrudes where a circular filter would sit.
 
And cost wise, 10 stop was about £45 brand new (new version without the blue colour cast) filter holders and 72mm ring you need with it were probably 10/20 quid in total.

10 stop shots often need a bit of white balance correction so shoot in raw and it should be easy. Also make sure you cover the eye piece! Didn't do that the first few times and wondered why I had ghosting of the lens reflecting off of the back of the filter!

Have since sold the filters as I just wasn't using them enough.

Or you could just buy the wideangle holder?!!
 
Isn't that a lot more expensive?
