I have a assignment for college that i was given last week, not due in for a few weeks yet but seeing as im off on Octobere holidays might aswell do it whil im not busy!
It tells me to take various shots. Of which i have to take 2 Casual group shots, and 2 formal group shots.

Anyone explain to me the differance between the two. I have a rough idea, but wanting to make suree i geet it right!

A formal group is usually posed neatly, (maybe tallest in the middle working out to smallest on each end, neatly spaced and maybe turned in towards the middle slightly)
An informal group may look unposed (but often is) but would be arranged more casually (some sitting some standing maybe, much more randomly posed ) thats about the best way I can describe it.

I'd agree. Formal would be like a group shot of a bunch of employees in suits. Casual would be perhaps people in casual clothes huddled around together or around a scene, like a promo shot for a band.
