Has anyone got any feedback on their
ProStop IRND filter range please?

The Resin ND filters exhibit a strong colour cast especially the higher number of stops that you go, the Firecrest ones are very neutral. They have quite a few Black Friday style deals on their own pages at the moment, so worth a browse, https://www.formatt-hitech.com/filters/

Thread here too:- https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/format-hitech-filters.640244/#post-7630815
Thank you, could the colour cast not be easily corrected by using a custom white balance?

These are the filter I bought after using the Cokin P series for so long and wanting to upgrade

I found them to be excellent but as David says, you do get a rather distinctive purple colour cast with very long exposures. This can easily be corrected with a custom WB, but I simply have a couple of presets in lightroom.

I ended up buying the NISI 10 stop filter though as I have a friend who lent me his to try and I was amazed with the quality.

D'OH, I've just ordered the ND grad pack of 3 (0.3, 0.6 and 0.9)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You don't notice any colour cast until going to exposures like 20 mins, etc. I just wouldn't piggy back more than two at a time at most.

Think you'll be happy enough with the resin HiTech's at those strengths tbh. I use a 0.6 hard, soft and reverse - all HT resin and like them.

It's when you go for the bigger stoppers the colour cast gets annoying (imo). I use a 4 stop, 7 stop and 16 stop - all Firecrest (as already said in this thread - no cast)

No the grads are OK as there aren't that many stops, I use Firecrest NDs and Resin Grads.

Good to know, cheers (y)

For the big stopper I'm actually looking at the Zomei ND1000 as I have the Circular version and think it's OK for the price. Bit of cast but not too bad and easy fixable.

I've invested in the Firecrest NDs, collected 3,6,10,13,and 16 so far..... now if I stack them that's 48 stops.......:exit:

Bet that put a nice dent in the bank balance ;)

Actually they are all 72mm circular, so not as expensive as the big square ones!!! I've nearly gone a year now without buying a lens (4 days to go), and only bought an X-T2, but have sold two bodies and 4 lenses this year, but probably spent £600 on filters and £430 on a tripod, so GAS still remains..........

Thanks, good advice.

Great idea setting a lightroom preset up, thanks.

I've had a set of the resin hitech grads, 6 and 10 stops for a few years. The 6 and 10 stops did give a colour cast but agree easily fixed with a custom. Overlaying 2 filters also gave a distinct magenta tinge, easily fixed but irritating.

I am really impressed with the firecrest, a set of soft grads, a 3 and 10 stop. overlaying 2 filters and not a hint of a colour shift, incredibly clear and natural colours. The only thing that worries me is they are glass!!!! Makes very careful when taking them out!
