Formby/Freshfield red squirrels

Just been to Formby to visit my grandad and on the front page of his local newspaper is the story that the red squirrels have contracted a virus and there is a real chance that they could be wiped out

They feature regularly in this area and it will be a real shame if this is the case!

Sickening. I'll bet it's caused by those b*****d greys. I'd kill the lot of them.

I did speak to the rangers & they think that it's reaching the end of the virus (squirrelpox apparently) would be such a shame if more died, they make such great subjects

It is a virus CARRIED by the grey squirrels but the virus does not affect them! I don't think that the grey squirrels developed the virus in some bizarre squirrel laboratory hidden away in a tree somewhere !
