hello

i have a picture in either tiff or jpeg format which is 84mg the size of the pic is 4752x3168

how do i scale this down to make the pic 200kbs without losing quaility or is it not possible

trying to get pics onto a thread

HELP!
 
84 MB? Can't see thats its a jpeg. Even tiff and raw would struggle to make a file that big. Try Tinypic to upload your image, you don't lose to much detail when uploading there.

do you have any image editing software?
 
well -- if it's for display on here, there's no point in keeping the file at that resolution. Create a copy of the file with the longest side as 800px long. Save it as a .jpg and it's probably going to be under 200kb. If not, then lower the image quality - don't know how it works in gimp, but in cs4, anything below 7 generally works.
