Four thirds sensors

Is the 4 thirds sensor format the same size as the 1.3 crop that Canon use on the 1d series or something else?

Got this from wiki, four thirds alot smaller than Canon.

It's a 2x crop IIRC...

(Nikon = 1.5x / Canon = 1.6x)

So with say a 400mm and a 2x converter you would effectively have a 1600mm

Effectively, and technically yes, but do they even make 400mm lenses for 4/3 mounts? You'll notice the lenses are different focal ranges, eg the standard walkabout lens is 14-something mm, compared to 17/18mm for crop, and about 24mm for full frame. I don't know for sure, but I'd assume this is reflected at the tele end as well?

Sigma do the 'Bigma' for the 4/3 mount - that's a 1000mm lens in 35mm terms!!!

Oh, I forgot - don't forget to try that with a 2x converter

I've used a manual 400mm lens on mine. Things look close.

the consumer range of lenses includes a 70-300mm.
