This was an exercise in FOV only between the Panny 7-14, at the 7 end and the Samyang 7.5 FE, fished and defished.

The camera was in the same place for both shots set at f5.6 with MF.

I used Fisheye Hemi to defish.

Interesting results....I thought.

As I use the 7-14 at the 7 end, 99% of the time, I'm wondering should I keep it.
If one is looking for UWA then surely the FE defished is the way to go, and at a fraction of the price of the 7-14.

Panny 7-14 at the 7 end.

Looks good at web resolution. How are the crops in the centre and corners?

That much correction will lose a fair bit of sharpness around the edges. The other thing is you're stuck with a fish-eye image for shooting, composition etc.

I keep looking at this lens as a way of getting wider than my 9-18, which is sometimes not quite wide enough, but I'm never entirely convinced by the defished images. The one here looks better than some other examples I've seen, although there's still quite a lot of curvature.

Don't suppose you shoot panos Dave? Would love to see an example of a single-row pano stitched in Hugin or similar.
