Free Basic Imaging software - any recommendations?

Hi everyone,

My laptop has ruptured a disc (ouch!) and is in laptop hospital. I'm using my old machine for now and rather than clog it up with Photoshop (I don't want to load it too many times, either, as I hear it can be a pain to re-register) I would like to use a VERY BASIC simple imaging program in the short term... Literally all I want to do is to be able to resize and possibly crop my images. Arty stuff can wait.

Years ago I used a very basic free Lview program, but now all I can find is the 'pro' version which is way too big and complicated, and it's only free to 'trial'. Can anyone recommend appropriate freeware off the net?

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is free, and has many of the tools photoshop has.

thanks for the posts guys i know its not my thread but i needed a free ware programe as i can not use my cs2 or might be 3 cant remember now any way does not work so thank for the help

The red eye removal tool on it is brilliant, not that I really use it anymore since I got a decent camera...

Many thanks for the responses everyone. Looks like Picasa is the one for me. I'm on the road now for a while so will download it just as soon as I get a 3G signal on the dongle.
